Jan Šturm is a leading specialist in dispute resolution and commercial litigation. As a legal counsel and attorney-at-law he has participated in the resolution of disputes worth in total several hundred billion of Czech crowns. He is a listed arbitrator with the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) and the Arbitration Court attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and the Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic.
In dispute resolution, Jan has advised a number of leading multinational and Czech companies and entrepreneurs carrying out business in the field of energy, metallurgy, light industry, banking, transport, construction and IT.
Jan has extensive experience representing clients in legally and technically complex cases including those which involve foreign elements and jurisdictions. In connection with dispute resolution, he also provides legal advice relating to alternative resolutions and conciliation. He also represents clients in complex commercial disputes involving intellectual property issues and unfair competition. He is a co-author of a prestigious commentary on unfair competition provisions of the Czech Civil Code.
Jan has also extensive experience in representing clients in judicial reviews of administrative decisions. In this connection, he participated, e.g., in representing clients in judicial review of zoning decisions and building permits for major construction projects in the Czech Republic, and in judicial review of administrative decisions issued by the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition and other administrative authorities of the Czech Republic.
